PRODUCTION BREAKDOWN

TWELFTH NIGHT

By William Shakespeare

Adapted and Directed by Isaac Young

Production Stage Manager: TBD

Date: Friday, May 8, 2020

Venue: Good Times Brewing (233 Maxwell Ave, Greenwood, SC 29646)

Synopsis: After a massive shipwreck leaves Viola and her twin brother stranded on the shore of Illyria, she disguises herself as a man for her own protection. What follows is the classic story about a girl dressed as a boy who falls in love with a boy who loves a girl who loves the girl dressed as a boy. Make sense? Considered one of Shakespeare’s greatest comedies,Twelfth Night is a tale of music, drunken revelry, and the kind of love that turns us all into fools.

Characters*: We will be auditioning the following roles (Any pronouns or gender identifications listed below refer to the characters as written, not necessarily the actors who play them)

  • VIOLA - A young woman who is shipwrecked on the shores of Illyria. She disguises herself as a young man called Cesario and goes to work for Duke Orsino.

  • ORSINO - A Duke and governor of Illyria. He is in love with Olivia even though she is not interested in him.

  • OLIVIA - A wealthy heiress whose father and brother have recently died.

  • SIR TOBY BELCH - Olivia’s uncle. He is often drunk and enjoys playing tricks on people. Comedic role.

  • SIR ANDREW AGUECHEEK - Wealthy, dim-witted friend of Sir Toby and a so-called “knight”. He hopes to marry Olivia. Comedic role.

  • MARIA - Olivia's maid. She is fond of Sir Toby and likes to impress him. Comedic role.

  • FESTE - Olivia’s jester and a roving entertainer. Strong musician and improviser. (Also plays SEA CAPTAIN, OFFICER 1)
